Camps Bay Touchies
If you spend a beautiful late afternoon on the beach, you can’t but notice a bit of excitement over the touch rugby game being played in the Eastern corner. An informal cousin of rugby, and fondly known as “touchies”, this Camps Bay game is, in fact, an institution. Established
17 years ago, it is still going strong twice a week (weather permitting), where enthusiast locals strut their stuff. All social, of course. There are 50-60 regulars, ages ranging from 20 up to the 60’s, and some members even commute all the way from Somerset West to join the game. Do what the locals do - cheer them on, or just join in. |
